The investigation into what happened to 25-year old Jelani Day is a missing person case no more. The LaSalle County Coroner’s Office says the body found in the Illinois River near LaSalle on Saturday, September 4th was Day’s.
He was reported missing on August 25th. Later that week, his car was found in Peru. A search team came together to work in the LaSalle-Peru area on September 4th to look for clues to the Illinois State Graduate student’s whereabouts. That team found the body in the river.
Dental records and DNA were examined to identify him. What ended Day’s life is still being investigated.
