The state of Illinois is giving almost $2 million to the Ottawa YMCA. That’ll go toward the new building project. It will help pay for classroom space and a health care facility inside. The Y’s project is estimated to cost more than $20 million. Funding is coming from many sources, including private donations.
The Y is moving from the spot next to the Fox River to higher ground near the Illinois River behind the Knights of Columbus. Gov. Pritzker’s office announced the grant award Tuesday.
