School boards continue to get questions about whether a mask mandate is the right thing to do. The Ottawa High School Board got the question from Tracy Lehman last night. She says government is being dictatorial with the masks requirement and children aren’t at high risk of getting sick from COVID.
Board President Don Harris replied that the board had given the matter its careful consideration.
Supt. Mike Cushing says schools that don’t go along with the mask requirement lose their academic recognition and can’t participate in Illinois High School Association sports. So while a few Illinois schools are going against the requirement, don’t expect Ottawa High to join them.
