Joe Scarbeary has resigned from the Streator City Council to work as the city’s building inspector. He was a fire fighter for more than 20 years until he retired in 2018. During his time on the City Council, he ran for mayor and lost. He continued working with the mayor he ran against and will now work for him.
The Streator city clerk is taking resumes and letters until next Friday at 1pm from those interested in being appointed to fill the rest of Scarbeary’s term. It’s up for election in 2023.
