At the Joliet Invitational in tennis, Ottawa’s Ella Marvel was the champion in singles and teammate Sara Meyer finished third. In Doubles Rylee O’Fallon and Emma Cushing finished fifth for the Lady Pirates on the day.
The Streator Varsity volleyball team took 2nd place in the consolation bracket at the Sandwich tournament. Mallory Goerne was named to the All-Tournament Team finishing the day with 20 kills, 19 digs, 3 aces and a block for the Lady Bulldogs.
The JV team also placed 2nd in the tournament. Emma Rambo had 8 digs, 38 assists, 13 kills, 2 blocks and 5 aces for Streator.
The Ottawa cross country team competed Saturday in Peoria’s First to the Finish event. Top performers for the Pirates were Liam Tipple for boys and Grace Carroll in the girls division.
Marquette and Seneca also competed at the event. Top performers for the Crusaders, Maggie Jewett in the girls race and for the boys Jimmy Lawsha. For the Irish it was Austin Aldridge in the boys class and Evelyn O’Connor for the girls.
Results in High School Golf
The Ottawa team placed 4th with a team score of 318 at the Metamora Invitational. The Pirates Drake Kaufman led all golfers shooting a 3 under par and a final score of 68.
Seneca finished in first place with a team score of 338 at their own America Proud 9/11 Golf Invitational. Noah Quigley led the Fighting Irish with a score of 38.
Junior High Golf
Five golfers from Shepherd School are advancing to the IESA state tournament in Metamora.
The Rams Bryer Harris took home 1st place, shooting a 79. Adam Swanson finished 6th, Colt Bryson placed 9th, James Threadgill finished 11th and Jacob Armstrong qualified finishing 13th. The IESA state tournament will be held on Friday, September 17th at the Metamora Fields golf course.
