For National Preparedness Month, St. Rep. Lance Yednock is recommending that people make disaster readiness kits. A kit should have flashlights, batteries, food, water, medicine, and other things you might need in a disaster but which may not be so easy to gather together in a hurry. And he says you should have a plan for dealing with a disaster. The plan should include getting comfort items for children, such as stuffed animals. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency has more advice on its web site.
