There won’t be a trial next week for a Morris man accused of a disruption at the Etna Rd. courthouse in Ottawa in March. Twenty-nine year old Jacob Farmer has been given two weeks to rework his request for a different judge and to move his case to another county. Farmer is representing himself. Judge H. Chris Ryan explained that Farmer must be more clear in his requests and use language with certain meanings for his requests.
Farmer and his sister, 30-year old Angel Farmer of Peru, were arrested for allegedly trying to get past courthouse security when they were told they couldn’t take their cell phones inside. Both are charged with obstructing an officer. Angel Farmer is also charged with battery because one officer had an arm injury in the encounter. Calling themselves Accountability Angel and Justice Jake in online videos, the two believe they’re fighting for First Amendment rights when they try to take videos inside courthouses where it isn’t allowed.
Angel Farmer has a lawyer and is scheduled to be in court next week. She’s trying to have her case dismissed.
