Record number of complaints involving COVID-19 payments, IRS says

The IRS is reminding people; don’t click on links you don’t know about from email or text.

The IRS says there have been a record number of complaints about COVID-19 payments through the federal government.

Assistant Acting Special Agent of the Chicago Field Office Todd Martin says once scammers have your information:

They can open up credit cards and other accounts in your name.

Martin says other messages are coming through text and email and also through social media.

He says to report a phishing scam go to phishing, p h I s h I n g at I R S dot gov.

This is not the same Todd Martin that’s the Lasalle County State’s Attorney.
