The Vermilion River will be closed to kayaks, canoes, boats, and other users in the Sandy Ford Bridge area for more than a week. The LaSalle County Highway Department says the contractor working on the bridge east of Leonore needs to close the waterway while putting up the new steel structure. The closure will start Tuesday and last until Wednesday next week.
