Camping increasingly popular at Illinois state parks

Camping is a more popular thing to do at Illinois state parks than it used to be. Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Colleen Callahan says camping reservations at Eldon Hazlet State Park near Carlyle doubled during the last year.

Starved Rock State Park Site Superintendent Alvin Harper says camping there was already very popular, so there wasn’t a lot of room for more camping. Weekends have been booked full for a long time, but for other days:
