West Nile Virus has been found for the first time this year in a mosquito batch captured in LaSalle County. A batch from Ottawa tested positive for the virus this morning. The LaSalle County Health Department says people should use mosquito repellent, repair broken window screens, empty stagnant outdoor water, and report lingering stagnant water puddles to the department.
Most people who get West Nile Virus don’t get sick. Most who get sick get mild symptoms of fever, aches, and nausea. But sometimes the virus is fatal.
