The A’s pitcher Chris Bassitt was hospitalized after taking a line drive to the head off the bat of the Sox outfielder Brian Goodwin in the bottom of the second inning. Bassitt immediately dropped to the ground and was carted off the field. The team reported that he was conscious on his way to the hospital

2013 Ottawa High School graduate Michael Hermosillo was called up yesterday and played for the Cubs last night after spending the season to this point with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs. Hermosillo made his debut in the North-Siders victory as a pinch hitter in the seventh.
