Republican Governor candidate Paul Schimpf says Illinois needs a parents’ bill of rights. There are two laws from the last few years that bother him a lot. One covers sex education for kids as young as five. Another says schools can give contraception to 12-year olds without the parents knowing.
He also says if elected he would have the legislature meet to participate in making the rules for dealing with COVID-19. Schimpf says he would insist on oversight and accountability. Schimpf says people who compare mask rules to seat belt laws miss something important. The seat belt laws were passed by legislatures and signed by governors. Gov. Pritzker’s mask rules and other measures for combating COVID-19 haven’t been ratified by the General Assembly.
Schimpf was in Utica Tuesday night to talk with the You Are Not Alone group.
