The White Sox scored twice in the bottom of the ninth but their rally fell short in a 5-3 loss to the Yankees at Guaranteed Rate Field. Lucas Giolito was tagged with the loss and Andrew Vaughn homered for the South-Siders.

The Cubs losing streak is now at eleven following a 4-1 defeat to the Marlins in Miami. Alec Mills dropped to 5-and-5 after giving up two-runs in five and two thirds. The North-Siders one run came on a Frank Schwindel home run in the sixth. The Cubs now have had two losing streaks of eleven or more games this season. That is the first time in club history. The Cubs visit the Reds tonight.
Nolan Arenado and Tyler O’Neill both homered as the Cardinals rolled to a series sweep of the Royals with a 7-2 win in Kansas City. J.A. Happ tossed five and two thirds scoreless innings to earn the victory. The Cards have won six straight heading into a three-game home series against the Brewers tomorrow night.
Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields engineered three scoring drives in limited action in the Bears 20-13 win over the Dolphins Saturday at Soldier Field. Fields completed 14 of 20 passes for 142 yards with one touchdown. He also rushed for a touchdown in the preseason victory.
The Chicago Fire won its second straight with a 1-0 victory over Columbus at Soldier Field in the MLS. The Fire begins a six-game road trip on Wednesday against Miami.
After a five week olympic break, the Chicago Sky beat the Seattle Storm in overtime 87-85 at the Wintrust Arena in the WNBA. The Sky host the Dallas Wings tomorrow night.
The world of tennis is losing Roger Federer again this year. The 40-year-old plans to undergo a third operation on his right knee, resulting in him missing this year’s US Open.
Over in the PGA, Kevin Kisner won the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina on Sunday.

The Woodland Warriors lost to Roanoke-Benson at Wolf Creek. Leading the Warriors was Glen Ruff with a score of 48.
The Newark-Serena Norsemen won The Sandwich Indian Invitational at Edgebrook Golf Course. Woodstock North placed second and The Seneca Irish finished third.
Girls junior high softball, Shepherd outscored Peru Parkside 7-5. Getting the win in the circle for the Lady Rams was Addie Russell, throwing all 9 innings, striking out eight and giving up six hits.
