Mendota native Stan Gehler was honored at the Sweetcorn Festival Saturday. Gehler died in 2017 at age 77 after a 20-year career in the Army and 20 more years working as a civilian employee of the Army. His older brother Ken remembered him to a crowd.
A flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol was presented to Stan Gehler’s son Greg. He immediately gave it to the Mendota Museum and Historical Society which has a display about Stan Gehler.
