For all the trouble the weather caused in Mendota, it’s not stopping the sweet corn festival. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Shelby Weide says with the power off most of yesterday, she couldn’t get email and take care of other online business. But the food trucks and other vendors are checking in today.

The festival starts with a special needs children’s carnival at 3:30pm. The regular carnival opens at 6pm. The festival includes bands and other entertainment. And the sweet corn is served on Sunday when there’s also a parade.
