Mendota’s police department is warning people to be careful when getting offers to fix their roofs after the storm damage yesterday. The department says scammers like to swoop in and take money and personal information without doing any work at times like these.

There are damaged trees, utility poles, cars, and buildings all over the city. It’ll take a few days to get everything cleared up again. The city’s street department is picking up branches left by the curbs, if the limbs aren’t too big.

And the Mendota Police Department would like people to avoid fallen power lines or other wires and to not roam the streets looking at storm damage. If you see a downed wire, treat it like it’s live even if it’s not a power line. Lethal voltages can power telephone and cable TV wires when wires are tangled.
