The Mendota Museum and Historical Society will honor a hometown hero who helped save millions of dollars for the U.S Army.
Stan Gehler will be honored this Saturday at 9am at 901 Washington Street in Mendota.
The event will recognize Gehler for his service as an artillery officer during the Vietnam War.
The event will also recognize his post-retirement career as a civilian employee with the U.S Army.
Gehler has 20 years of service in the military.
