Betty J. Koehler
1932-2021

Betty J. Koehler, 89 passed Saturday afternoon, (August 7, 2021), in Bloomington, IL surrounded by family members.
She was born May 5, 1932 in Houston Texas to Lorin and Pearl (Dodge) Hill. She married William Koehler on January 28, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2007.
She was a life-long member of The Salvation Army where she volunteered for many years teaching Sunday School and the women’s Home League. She attended the United Methodist Church in Ransom the past several years. Her servant leadership was evident throughout her lifetime – in church activities, caregiving through hospice, Christmas volunteer efforts and definitely in her many summers over the years at The Salvation Army Green Valley and Eagle Crest camps. Her love for Jesus was evident throughout her life. She loved people and always said they were the reason she continued to serve.
She is survived by five sons, William (Katherine) of Rydal, GA, Tom (Shari) of Bolingbrook, Steven (Melody) of Moline, James (Mary Jo) of Oswego, and Michael (Tami) of Dalton, GA; two daughters Susan (Joe) Sicilia of Springfield and Laura (Dan) Leisher of Bloomington; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Two sisters in Houston, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon.
Funeral services will be held at the Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator on Thursday at 10:30am with Major Sally Michael officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allen Township Cemetery in Ransom.
