The LaSalle County Health Department recommends people wear masks indoors to prevent spreading the coronavirus. As of Friday, the county has 586 current cases. The number has been going up every week for four weeks. It had been as low as 390 before new cases outnumbered recoveries again.
As is the case elsewhere, the delta variant is blamed for the surge. And because emergency room visits with COVID symptoms are going up, the Illinois Department of Public Health has put the county back in the orange warning status. That means people are asked to consider whether they really need to host or attend large gatherings and even consider limiting other activities in smaller groups.
