Jon Lester struggled early in his debut start for the Cardinals, giving up five first inning runs in a 6-1 loss to the Braves at Busch Stadium. Lester is now 3-and-6 on the season. Yadier Molina drove in St. Louis’ lone run. The Cards have split their last six games.

The Bulls continue to revamp their roster by agreeing to sign free-agent DeMar DeRozan to a three-year, 85-million-dollar contract. DeRozan is a four-time All-Star who averaged 21.6 points and 6.9 assists with the San Antonio Spurs last season.
The Bears are welcoming fans back to Soldier Field. Around ten-thousand fans were allowed back to the stadium yesterday for the team’s annual Family Fest practice. It was the first time fans had seen the Bears play at the lake front since the 2019 home finale.

The Women’s Basketball Team beat Australia 79-55 to advance to the semifinals. Team USA will face Serbia on Friday with a place in the gold medal final on the line.
The U.S. is taking home the gold and silver medals in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. American Sydney McLaughlin grabbed the gold with a World Record time of 51.46-seconds. Dalilah Muhammad of the U.S. earned the silver.
Scott Kazmir led the United States baseball team to a victory in Tokyo. The left-hander gave up two hits over five innings as the U.S. beat the Dominican Republic 3-1. Triston Casas hit a two-run homer in the first for the Americans to give them an early lead. David Robertson picked up the save for Team USA.
An internal investigation by the NCAA reports the association prioritizes men’s basketball “over everything else.” The report was put together by civil rights litigator Roberta A. Kaplan and her law firm. Kaplan found the NCAA is earning far less than it could be for television rights for its women’s basketball tournament. The report recommended the men’s and women’s Final Fours be held in the same city, among other suggestions. The investigation was sparked after players and coaches spoke out at last season’s women’s basketball tournament about the inequality between the men’s and women’s competitions.
