Peru’s City Council is interested in a state grant to improve the city’s ice rink. Possible improvements would be expanding it, creating a bocce ball area, and putting in chillers so the ice is available for more of the winter. City Hall is putting a plan together quickly for a grant application deadline of September 1st. The state’s Open Lands Acquisition and Development grant announcements could come in the winter or spring. The City Council talked Monday about how it can maximize its score in the grant assessment process by having a unique project.
