Parents and spouses of military members who were killed in action won’t have to pay $151 for Gold Star license plates in Illinois anymore. They’ll be free. Other relatives who qualify for the plates will still have to pay.
St. Sen. Brian Stewart of Freeport says the bill that Gov. Pritzker signed on July 23rd takes effect on January 1st. Both Illinois General Assembly chambers passed the bill unanimously this year.
