The retiring Dr. Caner Celeboglu has seen amazing changes in surgery since he trained for it in the 1970’s and performed it in Streator since 1978.

He says some surgeries aren’t done anymore, such as for removing certain kinds of cancer. He says there are drugs and immunotherapy that work better on them. Attorney Jim Reilly credits Celeboglu for saving his life, removing stage four cancer from his intestines about nine years ago.

Reilly says Celeboglu was a visionary early on in his career, looking ahead to the days when hospitals operate in regional networks.

Dr. Caner Celeboglu (pronounced juh-NER JELL-ee-BOH-luh) says more about his work, living in Streator, and the changes there have been in medicine during his career in this interview.
