If any Republicans serve on the U.S. House committee to investigate the Capitol Hill riot, Cong. Adam Kinzinger could be one of them. The committee chair, Cong. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, says he’d welcome Kinzinger, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.
Kinzinger voted to impeach Pres. Trump for allegedly instigating the riot. And he’s trying to shift the Republican Party away from Donald Trump as a central figure. Since he’s already drawing contempt from some other Republicans for that, he might not have much support to lose if he serves on the committee.
U.S. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy pulled the five Republicans he intended to nominate after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to let two of them be on the committee.
