Edith Arlene Dady was born on March 5th, 1939, in Streator, Illinois, to William and Reeva (Gourley) Decker. She was the third of four daughters and was lovingly referred to as Number 3 by her sisters. Her sister, Mary Hasselbring, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away in January of 2018. Edith is survived by her sisters, Darlene Budde of Flanagan, Illinois, and Beverly Riegert of Bark River, Michigan.

Her son, Matthew Richard Camp, and his wife, Trisha Pozil-Camp, live in Valparaiso, Indiana, with their sons Ethan Camp, Tresten Pozil and Damian Frost. Her daughter, Mary Suzanne Eckerman, and her husband, Chris Eckerman, live in Madison, Wisconsin.

Edith graduated from Woodland High School in 1957. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1960 and master’s degree in Home Economics in 1966 from Illinois State University. In 1960, she married Richard Camp who passed away in August of 1969. She later married Donald Dady on February 25th, 1972, at St. Stephen’s Church in Streator.

Edith retired from Streator High School in 2002 after teaching Home Economics for 28 years. In 2008, she was inducted into the Woodlawn High School Hall of Fame for a Lifetime Achievement Award. Edith was involved in P.E.O., a philanthropic organization, for 40 years and served as Chapter CM President several times. She also enjoyed sewing and volunteering at Central Church of Christ where she was a member.

On Sunday, December 27th, 2020, Edith passed away in her home surrounded by family. She was 81 years old. Edith chose cremation and to have her ashes buried next to her parents, sister (Mary) and first husband (Richard) at the Long Point Cemetery.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 24 from 10AM until 12Noon at the Winterrowd Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12Noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Long Point Cemetery.
