A battery storage area southeast of Marseilles caught fire Monday. It’s owned by Invenergy and is just west of the LaSalle Station nuclear power plant and a little south of an Invenergy office. Invenergy owns many of the wind turbines in the area.
Light smoke came out of the place during the noon hour. There were no evacuations. Grand Ridge fire fighters got help from other departments including Ottawa.
An Invenergy truck is parked on the driveway to maintain access only for emergency vehicles and company personnel.
