The Veterans Assistance Commission of Lasalle County is packing up and moving to Peru.
A building the county board is going to help the commission rent is south of the Veterans Assistance Clinic in Lasalle, just across from the Rural King.
Superintendent of the Veterans Assistance Commission Steven Kreitzer says that veterans need help after coming back from fighting overseas.
He says that it’s estimated by the VA that 13 to 30% of veterans who come out of service will have a form of PTSD or MST.
Kreitzer says the plan is to sign the lease which starts on August 1st and the commission would start offering care in September.
He also says there are 6,470 veterans alone in Lasalle County.
