Some LaSalle County Board members say keeping the county’s parks open was one of the biggest issues they have ever decided. Arratta Znaniecki of Ottawa says she heard from no one who wanted to close Catlin and Shabbona parks.
Board member Lou Ann Carretto of Ottawa says the vote to keep the county’s parks open was one of the most important to her constituents. Only two other issues have generated so much input from her constituents.
Jerry Myers of Streator suggested closing the parks at a committee meeting in May as a money saver. Even he voted for keeping them open Thursday. The vote was unanimous.
