A lawyer for Chester Weger says some of the evidence that’s still saved is in excellent condition. Andy Hale says slides have been marked with etchings on the glass. And there are sealed envelopes of hair and other items. There still must be a court hearing on whether any evidence that gets a new test has been tracked and preserved well enough since 1960 to link back to Weger’s case with certainty.

Weger’s lawyers hope to show that the 82-year old is not guilty of killing three women in Starved Rock State Park. He was paroled last year after six decades in prison.
