Peru Police Chief Doug Bernabei will no longer be in charge of the department after September 1st of this year.
Deputy Chief Bob Pyszka was appointed by Mayor Ken Kolowski to fill the roll in a few months.
3rd Ward Alderman Mike Sapienza asked one thing from the mayor.
Sapienza said that the mayor should give a reason to why he is replacing Pyszka for Bernabei.
Kolowski did not give a reason to the public before the vote.
He did say that he appreciates the work the chief has done afterward.
Kolowski says Bernabei has done a lot for the city and wishes him luck in his new job as lieutenant of administrative services.
Bernabei was chief of police for 15 years.
