Yesterday on WCMY, Brian Goodwin and Zack Collins homered as the White Sox swept the Twins with 8-5 win at Guaranteed Rate Field. Carlos Rodon gave up four runs in five innings for the South-Siders who have won four straight games.
The Cubs visit the Reds tonight. Alec Mills takes the mound for the North-Siders against Cincinnati’s Sonny Gray. The Cubs are looking to end a six-game losing streak.
Elias Díaz’s walk-off three-run homer lifted the Rockies to a 5-2 win over the Cardinals in Colorado. Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo-shot for St. Louis. Giovanny Gallegos got the loss which snapped a three-game winning streak for the Cards.
Nolan Arenado will be back at Coors Field later this month as an All-Star for the Cardinals. Arenado was voted by fans as the starting National League third baseman for the 2021 All-Star Game.
The Chicago Sky visit the Wings tonight for the second time in three days. The Sky defeated Dallas 91-81 on Wednesday.
In the NBA playoffs
Brook Lopez scored 33 points as the shorthanded Bucks beat the shorthanded Hawks 123-112 in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Finals in Milwaukee. The Bucks now take a 3-2 series lead. Game Six is Saturday in Atlanta.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to put the Montreal Canadiens on the brink of elimination tonight in Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final in Montreal. Tampa Bay won Game Two 3-1 and Game One 5-1 in Florida to take a two-games-to-none lead in the series.
Roger Federer became the oldest man to advance to the third round in 46 years at Wimbledon on Thursday and Seventeen-year-old American Coco Gauff also advanced to the third round.
In the PGA, Davis Thompson came out hot on the first day and leads the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.
The NASCAR’s Cup Series is set for fireworks on Sunday as they race at the Road America in Wisconsin.
The Blackhawks’ purchase of their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, is official. As part of the sale, the Blackhawks partnered with the city of Rockford and the state to launch a 23-million-dollar renovation plan for BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford.
Big man Kofi Cockburn is leaving the Illinois basketball program. The star center reportedly entered the transfer portal yesterday. Cockburn did enter his name into the NBA draft earlier this offseason and has until Wednesday to withdraw from the draft.
