There’s been talk of using digital license plates with built-in GPS tracking to catch carjackers in Chicago. Dixon Republican St. Rep. Tom Demmer has filed a bill to prevent that. He says the state doesn’t need to monitor everyone’s movements.
Demmer says a digital license plate system would be costly too. The license plate would constantly report its whereabouts to the tracking system.
