Three Seneca wrestlers competed in the IWCOA Class 1A State Championships at the BSO Civic Center in Springfield. Senior Nathan Elliott went 3-2 and placed 4th in the 285 pound class.
Junior Owen Feiner placed 5th in the 126 pound class and Senior Gavin Robertson earned a win in the 182 pound class.
The Fighting Irish finished the year ranked #9 in the state with a team season record of 33-2.
The White Sox baseball start a three game weekend series with Seattle at Guaranteed Rate Field. Carlos Rodón gets the start for the Sox against the Mariners. Pre game starts at 6:30 with the first pitch at 7:10pm on the radio at 1430AM WCMY.
The Cubs recorded the first combined no-hitter in franchise history in a 4-0 win over the Dodgers in LA. Zach Davies and three relievers blanked L.A and threw MLB’s seventh no-hitter of the season. Davies walked five and struck out four in his six innings before the bullpen combination of Ryan Tepera, Andrew Chafin and Craig Kimbrel did the rest. It was the 17th no-hitter in Cubs history. Javier Báez and Willson Contreras homered for the North-Siders in the victory.
Carlos Martínez walked seven batters in the Cardinals 8-2 loss to the Pirates at Busch Stadium. Lars Nootbaar and Tyler O’Neill drove in both Cardinal runs. The Cards have lost five straight games.
The Chicago Sky cruised past Liberty 91 to 68 in New York. The Sky will visit the Connecticut Suns on Sunday.
In the NBA Playoffs
The Clippers roughed up the Suns 106-92 in Game Three of the Western Conference Finals in Los Angeles. Phoenix still leads the series 2-1. Tonight, the Hawks and Bucks clash in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals in Milwaukee. Atlanta leads the series one game to nothing.
Over in the NHL
The Montreal Canadiens are going back to the Stanley Cup Finals after a game-winning goal in overtime to beat the Golden Knights 3-2 in Game Six in the Stanley Cup Semifinals. Tonight it’s all or nothing for the New York Islanders and the Lightning as they do battle in game seven at Tampa Bay.
