A Grundy County judge has scheduled a September 7th hearing in a court case aimed at stopping a barge fleeting business from going in east of Seneca. Property owners Rick and Gloria Sims are suing Illinois and Michigan Oil Company and the state of Illinois. The couple says the operation involving up to 106 barges on 21 acres of the Illinois River would endanger the environment and hasn’t been put through the required public hearings. The company says it will have almost no effect on the site’s ecology. The defendants are asking the judge to throw out the case.
