The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association announced the rosters for the annual state All-Star teams.
For the boys, The Ottawa Pirates Anthony Cooper and LP Cavalier Drake Weber will play for the Class 3A-4A south team and in the girls division Brooklyn Giertz from the Seneca Lady Irish will play for the Class 1A-2A north team.
The games will be played on Saturday, June 26th at the Pontiac Community High School.
Dallas Keuchel fired seven scoreless innings as the White Sox blanked the Rays 3-0 at Guaranteed Rate Field. Adam Engel homered for the South-Siders and Liam Hendriks posted his 18th save. The Sox have won five of their last six.
Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal is done for the season after undergoing successful surgery to repair a right hamstring tear. Madrigal suffered the injury in a loss to the Blue Jays last week. The 24-year-old is one of three key position players sidelined for the first-place White Sox. The other two are left fielder Eloy Jimenez and center fielder Luis Robert.
Pete Alonso drove in all three Mets runs in a 3-2 win against the Cubs in Queens, New York. Alec Mills was tagged with the loss after giving up three over four and a third innings. Javier Báez hit a two-run homer for the North-Siders who have dropped the first two of the four-game set
Paul Goldschmidt’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth gave the Cardinals a 2-1 win over the Marlins at Busch Stadium. Alex Reyes earned the win. The Cards go for the sweep today.
Adam Wainwright is admitting that he used a foreign substance on the baseball during the 2019 season. The longtime Cardinals starter was named in a Sports Illustrated report detailing foreign substances in baseball. Wainwright said he has nothing to hide, adding that the substance didn’t work for him. His comments come as MLB announced yesterday it will suspend players for ten days if they are caught using any foreign substance on the ball.
In the WNBA, the Chicago Sky were winners 105-89 at the Minnesota Lynx.
