A Grundy County judge is throwing out a court case over LaSalle County election results back in November. The LaSalle County Circuit Clerk’s Office court records show Judge Scott Belt will put in a written order dismissing the case. It’ll then be up to LaSalle County Republican Party Chairman Larry Smith to ask the judge to reconsider, appeal to a higher court, or let it go.
Smith had claimed the County Clerk’s Office mishandled mail-in ballots and ended up unfairly giving wins to two Democrats–State’s Attorney Todd Martin and Illinois House 76th District Rep. Lance Yednock. Early on, a judge threw out the part of the case about the House race, because Smith lives in a different House district.
