Ottawa and Marseilles announced that they will apply for a housing rehab grant.
The Community Development Block Grant project would provide help for those in moderate to low income housing by developing projects like sewer separation and updating houses with more modern amenities.
Ottawa mayor Dan Aussem says this is the first time the city is applying for the grant.
He says that the grant will help the poor and disadvantaged update their housing to a safer and more fuel efficient level
Aussem also says that people need to fill out the survey given by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in the area of East Superior Street, East Michigan Street and East Marquette Street where the grant would be applied to.
Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the project was very successful in the city of Marseilles the first time the city applied and that’s why they are applying for another grant.
