The Marquette Crusaders will take on the Hall Red Devils in Spring Valley for the Class 2A Regional Championship.

First pitch is at 4:30pm with Isaac Missel giving you all the play by play action on 1430 WCMY and streaming online at 1430 WCMY DOT COM.

 

Tonight Ottawa competes for the class 3A Regional championship when the Pirates travel to face The Washington Panthers.

 

The Streator Bulldogs also hit the road to face Dunlap in a class 3A championship game tonight

 

Regional championship games in class 1A baseball.

 

The Newark Norsemen will host the Serena Huskers.

 

The St Bede Bruins travel to take on Yorkville Christian.

 

Over the weekend

 

The Ottawa Lady Pirates defeated Chicago Heights Marian 5-0 at King Field to win their second consecutive regional softball championship.

 

The top-seeded Lady Pirates now move on to the Class 3A  Sectional  and will host Oak Forest tomorrow at King Field. That game you can hear right here on 1430 WCMY.

 

The Marquette Lady Crusaders also won their second consecutive Class 1A regional title over Earlville 14-1 in five innings.

Kaylee Killelea pitched five innings with nine strikeouts and one earned run for Marquette who will travel to face top seed Dwight in a semi final sectional on Tuesday.

 

Seneca was at home and held on to beat Coal City 4-3 in softball for the Class 2A Regional Championship.

The Lady Irish will host Normal University in the 2A sectional semifinals on Tuesday.

 

Ottawa High School hosted the Class 1A Sectional in tennis.

Metamora won the team title with the Pirates finishing in second.  Streator Bulldog Davey Rashid qualified in singles for the IHSA state finals held in the Chicago suburbs. Also heading to the state finals in doubles,  the team of Gavin Jonassen and Andrew Bollis from the LP Cavaliers.

 

Over in Wrestling

The Grapple on the Gridiron was Friday night under the lights at the Seneca high School football field.

The Fighting Irish defeated both Coal City and the Ottawa Pirates in the Triangular contest.
