The city of Ottawa could have a second wastewater treatment plant in a few years. For now, City Hall is planning to hire the Fehr Graham firm to develop the plans for it. Commissioner Tom Ganiere says it would be in the area of the Ottawa Industrial Park.

It could take a year or two to start building it. The city is also contracting for a new sewer pipe that crosses the Illinois River from the west side. Vissering Construction will build it for $3.7 million.
