In the future people in Marseilles might be able to buy groceries for what they can afford.
Citizen Stephen Whelchel a father of three and a photographer wants to create a market garden which would do just that.
Whelchel says he understands the tough times the city is going through because it’s also affecting him.
He says he is currently losing his house because of his father being in a nursing home.
Whelchel says he brought property at Chicago and Washington Streets where the garden would be placed.
He says he also wants to work with the city council on permits for placing structures on the property.
