Starting in June the Illinois State Police are going to start doing roadside safety checks.
ISP says alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.
Roadside safety checks are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders of the road.
Lieutenant Dustin Geier says ISP will be watchful for other drivers who are driving dangerously.
This could include not wearing a seat belt, speeding and other forms of distracted driving.
