The Ottawa Fire Department had to respond to a chemical spill at OSF St Elizabeth Hospital Wednesday afternoon.
The chemical xylene which is used is human tissue research spilled in a laboratory at the hospital.
1/3 of a gallon of the chemical leaked out.
The lab was evacuated and the ventilation system was switched to 100% outside air for safety.
The xylene was cleaned up after it was determined that it wasn’t near anything flammable and everyone was allowed to return to the lab.
