A big water main extension project that Ottawa is borrowing money for should get going this summer. The City Council approved bids of around $4.2 million for the work. City Commissioner Tom Ganiere says this will take water to Illinois 71 and Interstate 80.
Businesses at that intersection asked to be annexed into Ottawa a few years ago because paying for septic tank upgrades would have cost too much.
