Last week The Lasalle County Board voted to oppose a new law that was filed by the state senate.
The county board says that Senate Bill 1602 would ignore the county’s ability to regulate where wind energy facilities would be placed around the county.
They say that the best way to determine where facilities should go should be determined by the county board and not by the state.
The board also said a state representative might not be aware of the best place to put a wind energy facility because they don’t live here.
The county board urges Governor Pritzker to veto the bill and urges the General Assembly of the state to not bring the bill to a vote.
