The Peru Police Department held on to some squad cars longer than it normally would have last year. That helped save money during the pandemic. But it means the squad cars have a lot less resale value now.
Chief Doug Bernabei says a smaller police department is interested in buying one for $7,000. That’s exactly what the other department is getting from an insurance company after one of its cars was totaled.
Bernabei plans to have an ordinance for the City Council to vote on at its next meeting.
