In Softball
Ottawa was home at King Field and earned two more wins in a three-team round robin by defeating Mendota 7-2 and then beating Coal City 4-1 .
Winning pitchers for The Lady Pirates were McKenzie Oslanzi going seven innings with ten strikeouts and Abby Bukantis who also went seven innings striking out twelve batters.
Marquette had a doubleheader with Serena and swept the Lady Cornhuskers 1-0 and 9-8.
Winning pitchers for The Lady Crusaders were Kaylee Killelea with seven innings pitched earning nine strikeouts and Lindsey Kaufmann going seven innings with eight earned runs and three strikeouts.
The Seneca Lady Irish traveled to Braidwood and defeated Reed-Custer 12-1 in five Innings.
Over in Baseball
After being off for the past ten days the Marquette Crusaders swept the Serena Huskers in a double header at Masinelli Field.
Game one the Cru won 16-1 with pitcher Aiden Thompson getting the win. In game two, Luke Couch was the winning pitcher in the 12-2 Crusader victory.
Seneca lost at home to Reed-Custer 9-2
Matt Cruise pitched five innings with four earned runs and seven strikeouts in the loss for the Irish.
Ottawa won on the road at Chillicothe beating Illinois Valley Central 6-2 in girls soccer.
The Lady Pirates Gabi Krueger finished with four goals.
Results from the annual Ottawa Tennis Invitational. Metamora came in first place, Lincoln Way East placed second, The Pirates finished third, Bloomington Catholic was fourth, Pontiac ended in fifth and the Streator Bulldogs finished in sixth place.
Seneca were winners at the Reed-Custer triangular meet in wrestling.
The Fighting Irish defeated Kankakee 78-0 and outscored Reed-Custer 38-31
LP Competed in a quadrangular wrestling meet at Morton High School.
The Cavaliers defeated Deer Creek 42-29, tied with Morton at 42 and lost to United Township 48-30.
St Bede hosted a triangular meet with Marquette and Plano.
The Bruins lost to the reapers 33-22 and defeated the Crusaders 48-6
Elsewhere in sports
The White Sox completed a three-game sweep of the Royals with a 9-3 win in Kansas City. The South-Siders will host the Twins tomorrow night.
The Cubs scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth but their comeback fell short in a 6-5 loss to the Pirates at Wrigley Field. The North-Siders visit the Indians on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals completed the three-game sweep of the Rockies with a 2-0 win at Busch Stadium. The Cards visit the Brewers tomorrow night.
The Blackhawks defeated the Dallas Stars 4-2 while playing in front of a limited number of fans at the United Center for the first time this season. Kevin Lankinen made 37 saves in the win. The Hawks’ wrap up the season tonight against the Stars in Chicago.
Zach LaVine led all scorers with 30 points in the Bulls 108-96 win over the Pistons in Detroit. The Bulls host the Nets tomorrow night.
The Chicago Fire fell 2-0 to the Philadelphia Union at Soldier Field in the MLS.
