The Marseilles City Council on Wednesday adopted ordinances to purchase of several buildings so Commercial Street can be realigned.
This is the first step to get the road widened in the future.
Marseilles Commissioner of the Streets Nathan Schaefer says this project will involve helping a tenant in one of the buildings.
Schaefer says one tenant in one of buildings will have to be relocated due to the ordinances.
Schaefer says there have been a lot of problems with big vehicles like semi’s and emergency crews not being able to make wide enough turns and getting traffic out of the way for them.
He says a fire hydrant and a stop sign have been knocked over multiple times in the area.
