Some contracts on file at Ottawa City Hall are for Surf Air Wireless to expand the internet services it offers in the city. The company installed the connections that supply music played on the outdoor speakers in the downtown area. Mayor Dan Aussem says it will run more fiber-optic lines.
He’s not sure how long it’ll take. But he’s glad there’ll be coordination with the city. As the streets are dug into for sewer work, the fiber-optic lines can go in too. That will avoid digging into the streets again after they’re repaved.
Surf Air Wireless intends to make Ottawa a “gigabit city” with very fast internet available all over the city.
