Veterans Assistance Commission Superintendent Steven Kreitzer proposed his plan to extend services to veterans to the Lasalle County Finance Committee on Tuesday.

Along with the option to create a food pantry and showers for veterans Kreitzer says that having conference room would help the commission because the VA has moved to an online platform.

He says member of the VAC would have had to drive to Chicago to represent the veterans.

Kreitzer also showed some picture of a building that the commission could rent that would have two separate entrances for different needs.

The total cost per year if taken on by the financial committee would be 110,000 dollars.

Some members of the board debated with Kreitzer that maybe the use of empty rooms in buildings that are already in use could be better financially.

They finance committee decided to move the proposal to the county board for a final decision.
